FRECKLED

If you’ve been blessed with a peppering of freckles on your nose and cheeks then you can rejoice! Freckles are the new micro beauty trend for summer 2010 and they’re going to be so lusted after that even if you haven’t been naturally blessed with them you’ll be drawing them on.
With pale becoming the new tanned and light, porcelain skin stealing the limelight, it seems a logical step that freckles are now having their moment in trend. Fashion designer Rachel Comey has set the ball rolling with her spring 2010 show, where she sent models down the catwalk with a healthy sprinkling of cute and charming freckles.
Makeup artist Miyako Okamoto worked hard to give the models a radiant, clean and youthful appearance. Her inspiration was cited as a summer camp, which perfectly matched the outdoorsy collection, full of cheerful prints, shorts and sundresses. The model’s skin was prepped with lots of moisturiser and flushed with a cream blush for a glowing, dewy finish. Freckles were then added with some tender dabbing of eyebrow pencil across the cheeks and along the bridge of the nose.
The final look was young and innocent, but most of all perfectly summery.

STRAIGHT AWAY

Straight, groomed locks were all over the spring and summer catwalks for 2010. From short bobs and sharp, blunt fringes to loosely hanging lengths and smooth ponytails; sleek tresses are the perfect contrast to the waves and plaits which have been dominating the hair trends so far this year.
The most loved straight style of the season is soft, with a bit of bend to it and some movement. It’s not a rigid, poker straight look but instead there is a more natural, easy and carefree feel to the hair. This is best achieved by leaving some volume at the root, rather than letting the hair fall flat on the top of the head.
Anna Sui’s runway models showcased the perfect compromise between straight and wavy, opting for sleek lengths which were given a slight curve at the ends, creating a polished yet laidback look.
To achieve this timeless style first insert your ghd IV styler and ghd anti-static brush at the root. Next, gently glide the styler through the hair, following with the brush. At the end of the hair, roll the end of the hair under with the brush. The final result is a straight yet voluminous, sex kitten style.

GOLDEN TOUCH

Light blonde peroxide locks that verge on a bright white shade are a huge hair hit this season, but for many it may be a trend too far. The condition of the hair may be too weak for such extensive colour work, a pale hair colour may not suit certain skin tones, or it could simply be too extreme for certain tastes. If you still want to lighten up your locks without going overboard then consider summery golden shades which are just as trendy for 2010.
The most stylish mid-toned blonde of this season shouldn’t look obviously dyed. Highlights and lowlights prevent the colour from appearing flat and a very subtle, slightly darker tone at the root will emphasise the natural look.
Golden blonde hue is hugely popular amongst first class catwalk models like Lily Donaldson and Jessica Stam. Take cue from their glossy, healthy looking blonde locks and keep hair in top condition.
Trim the hair regularly and give blonde processed tresses a helping hand with the right products. Use ghd guardian shampoo and conditioner to protect the hair colour whilst adding elasticity and repairing damage caused by colouring. Apply ghd opulence mask weekly and you’ll be sporting gleaming golden tresses that would make even Reese Witherspoon green with envy.

MAGNIFICENT MET BALL

The annual Costume Institute Met Ball is always a glamorous affair. Celebrities grace the red carpet in New York with some extra flair for this special event. This year, the theme was ‘American Woman: Fashioning A National Identity’ and stars like Katy Perry, Sienna Miller and Emma Watson all wore fantastical, fabulous gowns.
A bit of ingenuity goes a long way at the Met Ball and the hairstyles are always more creative than more formal star studded events. We bring you the hair heroes of the 2010 Met Ball.
Sarah Jessica Parker also wore her hair in waves, but instead opted for long, relaxed kinks which had a luxurious, glossy texture. She finished the look with an oversized bow on the side of her head for a fun, frivolous look.
Jennifer Lopez chose to work the scarlet carpet with a dishevelled up do complete with a grown-out fringe, creating a trendy and alluring style.
Kate Bosworth gave her mid-length locks a touch of old Hollywood, with perfect, tumbling 1940s waves which are right on trend for summer. Kate wore her elegant curls with a deep side parting, with one side tucked behind her ear to show off a suitably dazzling set of earrings.
