PARIS HAUTE COUTURE WEEK: HAIR AND BEAUTY REPORT

Paris Haute Couture Week: Hair and Beauty Report

Paris Haute Couture Week showcases the most extreme and creative fashion that designers have to offer, but it’s also a chance for hair and makeup artists to show just how inventive they can be.

This season, makeup took on a loud, fantastical style as bold colour was used in a playful, make-believe way.

Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino looked towards the movie Avatar for part of their inspiration. Valentino painted a sharp, bright, blue eye mask onto models’ creamy complexions whilst at Gaultier models sported clashing green and burnt orange hues eyes matched with a metallic copper lip, creating an almost tribal look. The lesson was clear; don’t be afraid to use brash colour, and lots of it.

With hairstyles, the wonderland concept was just as strong. At Chanel, hair was sculpted into oversized bouffants, laced with streaks of silvery white and adorned with a giant, fluffy bow for a modern Little Bo Peep style.

At Givenchy, hair had a serious stance. Long, straight tresses were given natural looking texture, with movement running through the lengths of the locks. Centre parted, tucked behind the ears and pouring down the back, the lengthy hair had a tough slant which meant business.
