19.11.09MOODY BLUES
If you thought the colour indigo was just for jeans, think again. This rich and vivid hue is going to be big this season, after designers peppered their catwalks with it. Whether worn as a sparkling cocktail dress or a cosy, chunky coat, this will be one trend that you won't want to miss out on.
The most delectable tones of indigo are so bright that they verge on neon, adding a pop of colour to predominantly black outfits. To keep the look simple and chic team tones of indigo with moody navy which offers an elegant alternative to the usual grey shades of the season.
Don't limit yourself to just indigo. All shades of ocean blue are going to be hot this winter and it's a trend that is set to stay till summer. Mix things up with accents of viridian and teal for a spectacular, jewel toned outfit.
19.11.09EIGHTIES ECCENTRIC
When nude colour palettes and soft makeup just don't cut it, it's time to embrace the 80s and experiment with makeup. Colours, shapes and textures are all there to be played with in order to bring out your individuality and stand out from the crowd. With the unashamedly frivolous and hedonistic era back en vogue there's no excuse not to unleash some creativity.
This look showcases over the top, in your face glamour with eye-popping colour. Marc Jacobs is leading the way, sending models down his Autumn/Winter runway with bold, thick eyeshadow teamed with chalky pink lipstick.
The key picks from this eccentric trend provide a fresh take on the eighties classic for blue eyes and pink lips. Navy eyeliner replaces retro sky-blue shadow and soft nude lipstick wipes out bubblegum shades. The end result? A beautiful yet eye-catching look which is sure to turn heads for all the right reasons.
19.11.09PRETTY PLAITS
Giving an easy twist to any hairstyle, there's nothing prettier than a plait. Wound around the base of a bun, sneaking into a swinging ponytail or taking centre stage in one long braid, the plait is both versatile and stylish.
The new season braid is focused on grown-up fun. At Twenty8Twelve's fashion show, hair was spun into a plaited up do with strong punk connotations. Messy braids were spun above the ear before exploding into a twisted ponytail secured at the nape of the neck, giving plaits a distinctly rock chick look.
To master the plaited up-do, spritz ghd creation spray onto dry hair to hold the style, before creating two braids on each side and pulling them into a ponytail. Flip the pony back under itself and secure, making the hair look shorter and bouncier. Finally, tease strands out from the braids and pony, for that care-free, undone attitude.
19.11.09BRONZE MEDAL
Eschew pasty complexions this winter for something with a bit more heat. Bronzed skin needn't be reserved for the warmer months and, done right, can bestow a healthy radiance which will brighten up any cold and gloomy day.
Tanned skin in the winter gives the impression of luxury and refinement, conjuring up images of relaxing pool-side during sun soaked holidays in far-flung paradises. As seen on the Chloe catwalk, the Winter sun complexion can easily recreated with a dab of fake tan and a powdering of bronzer. Apply golden bronzer with a big fluffy brush to keep the colour even, not stripy, touching up points which catch the sun like the forehead, nose and cheekbones.
Team deliciously biscuit shaded skin with metallic eye-makeup which will reflect the light and up the wow factor. Glistening gold swept across the eyelids will translate this polished trend from day to night in one quick stroke.
