INSIDE OUT

There’s a very cheeky new style on the horizon for spring. The trend for underwear worn as outerwear is daring, fun and just a little bit naughty.
Jean Paul Gaultier, Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander Wang were just some of the many designers who let lingerie inspired pieces reveal themselves on the catwalk and the high street is backing them up with a range of crop tops, bralets, ruffles and lace.
Underwear’s new role as outerwear may conjure up images of Lady Gaga in her flesh revealing knickers and bodysuits, but this trend needn’t be so risky to wear. Worked into outfits in a subtle and inconspicuous way, underwear on show can be sultry and ever so seductive.
Take a pass on going out in your smalls and instead remember the motto ‘the devil is in the detail’. A glimpse of lace, hints of silk, glances of corsetry and touches of sheer fabrics all have whispers of lingerie without being too obvious.
In order to wear this trend tastefully and beautifully, opt for nude and neutral shades and lots of layering. A silky camisole peeping out from underneath a blazer or a corset style slip dress matched with an oversized cardigan gives the look a refined and classy finish.
