PARIS HAUTE COUTURE WEEK: FASHION REPORT

Paris Haute Couture Week: Fashion Report

Twice a year, the fashion week season is kicked off with a bang, in the form of Paris Haute Couture Week.

Designers like Jean Paul Gaultier, Givency and Valentino congregate in the world’s fashion capital to showcase their most extravagant and artistic designs. The pieces of clothing, all completely unique and one-offs, can fetch up to £200,000 and attract starlets such as Dita Von Teese, Kanye West and Kylie Minogue to the front row.

True to form, John Galliano for Christian Dior was a highlight. The collection was inspired by all things equestrian, with top hats and veils teetering on models heads, long riding skirts and cinched in jackets making horse-inspired style a sure fire trend in the months to come.

At Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld described his collection as 'Neon Baroque'. Dazzling silver sat alongside acidic lime, yellow and pink in drop-waist dresses, sprawling ruffles and ornate collars, leading the way for futuristic elegance.

Armani kept things romantic with sleek trouser suits, voluminous gowns and fitted pencil skirts in pale milky pink and lemon shades. A celestial collection inspired by the moon, lunar crescents adorned the collection in the guise of brooches, curves of jacket shoulders and swerving shirt lapels.
