FINISHING TOUCHES

Hair accessories can make a great hairstyle outstanding. This year, hair decorations vary from the simplest slides to over the top headpieces and everything in between.
The girl next door won’t be able to resist adding a bow to her locks this Spring. Brilliant bows are going to be everywhere this season, whether they are falling in line on the front of a dress, tying up a belt or sitting on the back of a skirt. Give hair a taste of the trend with blown-up versions on top of the head, decorated alice-bands and knotted head scarves. Just remember one rule; when it comes to bows for 2010, bigger is better.
For a more elegant way to decorate the hair, take inspiration from the Philip Lim spring catwalk, where a straightforward hairclip was used to transform a slicked down, boyish hairstyle into something feminine and pretty.
Daytime chic can be achieved with a headscarf or wrap. As seen at Chanel, the headscarf creates a unique and modish look which is perfect for the day. Keep the look high-fashion by choosing luxe fabrics like soft lace.
There’s a choice for everyone’s taste and style, so why not upgrade your favourite hairstyle easily with some chic decorations?

GIRLS BRIGADE

With Mother's Day just around the corner, it's time to ditch the eyeliner, red lipstick and false lashes and look innocent and sweet. Make mum proud with a look that says butter wouldn't melt in your mouth. Velvety, flawless skin, pastel tones and bubblegum blusher all create a fresh face which is bound to impress.
To get the look, first take direction from Lucia Pieroni, makeup artist at Alberta Ferretti, who massaged the models skin, giving them a mini-facial pre-show. Skin will be automatically revived, plumped and dewy.
Stay away from heavy foundations and instead stick with sheer formulations and concealer to hide those tell tale signs of a hedonistic lifestyle.
When it comes to faking 8 hours sleep, make blusher you new best friend; it instantly makes tired, dull skin look wide-awake and bright. Stella McCartney, Carolina Herrera and Hermes buffed bright cherry hues lightly onto the apples of the cheeks in a gentle pop of colour. At Victor & Rolf, cutesy sugar pink cheeks created a frivolous and light-hearted look. To get blushing beauty style use a cream blusher which blends seamlessly into the skin, giving a more natural finish.
Finish with a slick of peachy gloss on the lip and don't forget to smile!

HYPER REAL

Bright eyes, glowing skin and white teeth are coveted signs of being exceptionally beautiful and in good health; and shiny hair is no different. Tresses that showcase a glossy texture and light-reflecting polish are much lusted-after; absolutely everyone wants hair which looks luminous.
In the spring season, this shining, shimmery hair is taking a step up and becoming ultra-reflective and radiant, making it look hyper real and supernatural. Locks with lustre came thick and fast on the spring catwalks; frizz free, gleaming hair came worn down and looking natural, in wet-look, sleek and slippery styles and theatrical crops.
Armani set the standard with golden highlights laced throughout the hair. The glittering tones were spray painted artfully onto strands of the models hair with metallic gold stage makeup, resulting in an enviable liquid metal sheen. The focus was on creating a super shiny look which is hard to believe.
At Gucci, the stylists took a different take on the trend. Hair was made so reflective and glossed over that it looked soaking wet at the roots, whilst the ponytail was left dry to create emphasis on the sleek head.
To make a statement this spring, arm yourself with a shine serum like ghd shining serum and get to work.

INSIDE OUT

There's a very cheeky new style on the horizon for spring. The trend for underwear worn as outerwear is daring, fun and just a little bit naughty.
Jean Paul Gaultier, Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander Wang were just some of the many designers who let lingerie inspired pieces reveal themselves on the catwalk and the high street is backing them up with a range of crop tops, bralets, ruffles and lace.
Underwear's new role as outerwear may conjure up images of Lady Gaga in her flesh revealing knickers and bodysuits, but this trend needn't be so risky to wear. Worked into outfits in a subtle and inconspicuous way, underwear on show can be sultry and ever so seductive.
Take a pass on going out in your smalls and instead remember the motto "the devil is in the detail". A glimpse of lace, hints of silk, glances of corsetry and touches of sheer fabrics all have whispers of lingerie without being too obvious.
In order to wear this trend tastefully and beautifully, opt for nude and neutral shades and lots of layering. A silky camisole peeping out from underneath a blazer or a corset style slip dress matched with an oversized cardigan gives the look a refined and classy finish.
