LONDON FASHION WEEK HAIR AND BEAUTY REPORT

This season’s London Fashion week had a minimalist nineties feel running throughout the makeup and hair styles. Carrying on from New York Fashion Week, simple, unfussy and clean were all buzzwords flying around; making sure minimalism is predicted as the big trend for Autumn Winter 2010.
Colour palettes are soft and neutral in makeup, with tonal hues gently complementing each other. It’s an extension on the summer super-skin trend, as washes of taupe, mink and sand are applied to eyes and cheeks with a feather-light touch at Erdem, Jaeger and Pringle of Scotland. When makeup wants to take on a darker or more dramatic appeal, heavy and deep lips were the popular choice. Antonia Berardi took on another nineties trend, grunge, painting the lip with a gothic shade of black-red.
When it comes to hair it’s all about the texture – luxury locks will be ruling next season, with a glossy quality and look. Styling is split into two camps; simple or dramatic. Uncomplicated yet masculine hair was in favour at shows like Hakaan, with androgynous partings and hair tucked behind the ears, or textured locks which are unashamedly big and bold. So, which team will you be backing next season?
