BURBERRY CATWALK REPORT

It was only the design house’s second season showing in London, but at Burberry’s London Fashion Week show the celebrities were out in droves for a glimpse of the upcoming Winter collection. Mary Kate Olsen, Olivia Palermo, Kate Hudson, Kristen Stewart and Mario Testino all lined the impressive front row in the hope of discovering a new outfit for autumn.
Christopher Bailey, the Yorkshire man behind the label’s designs, created a collection that was a clear nod to the military services, even going as far to describe the runway models as Burberry’s very own cadets. Sheepskin pilot jackets, khaki shaded suits, trench coats and officer’s coats were emblazoned with zips and buckles and paraded down the catwalk to much fanfare.
The designer pieces weren’t all robust, masculine and martial in their appeal however. Figure hugging dresses created from sensual satin and lace were peppered throughout the collection teamed with leather and snakeskin over-the knee boots. The addition of such light and airy pieces to sumptuous fabrics like fur, suede and pony-skin gave Burberry’s winter wardrobe a sexy, seductive look.
Delicate and romantic on the inside, but with a tough and hardy exterior; Burberry’s new collection is designed to entice and enthral.
