TREND: PURPLE
The only colour to be seen in this autumn. Basically, all over the runways at the A/W 2008 collections – ref. Michael Kors, Pucci, Comme des Garcons, Valentino, Martin Grant – the designers worked their way through the entire purple gamut. The purple item I'm most lusting after? This purple peach from Banana Republic, £125.

HEADSCARVES
Who'da thought that the Princess Margaret look was set to be such a honey for the autumn? Paul Smith, Michael Kors, Dolce & Gabbana: we have taken note. That said, there's not a Hermés-silk-scarf-on-earth that would persuade me to leave the house looking like Miss Tiggywinkle, but hell, I'm buying it nonetheless. Wear it around your neck, around your waist or tied to your bag instead.

MR JONES WATCHES
Mr Jones Watches are a new cult watch brand designed by Crispin Jones and of his playful pieces, I'm after The Decider, which helps you make a simple 'yes' or 'no' decision. So much better than the "What would Madonna do?" ethos to life. As the American motivational speaker Brian Tracy puts it: "Decisiveness is a characteristic of high-performing men and women. Almost any decision is better than no decision at all." Or as Tony Soprano puts it: "A wrong decision is better than indecision." Hmm, quotes aside, I still like it. Or at least I think I do. Goddamit, get me that watch right now!

DARK GENIUS
Two years ago, the acclaimed Irish photographer, Bob Carlos Clarke, committed suicide by throwing himself in front of a train. Famed for his erotic pictures of rubber-clad women, captivating still lives of found objects and also for his advertising campaigns (his final commission in 2005 was for ghd), his incredible photographs are now on permanent display at Luciano's in London - instigated by his former friend and subject of his work, Marco Pierre White. Two very good reasons to dine there.
