Make sure you go to the salon with ideas!
Give your stylist as much information as you can. Tear out pictures from magazines, take in celebrity references, even bring in photos of friends with hair that you like! Be descriptive with what you DON'T want as well as what you do want. These are equally as important pieces of information for your hairdresser.
"Are you going on holiday this year?"
IT'S GOOD TO TALK
It's important that you feel comfortable enough to chat with your stylist as building trust and communication are the building blocks to having a great relationship with your hairdresser. Don't think about the haircut you're having right now, but think about the haircut you'll be having in the future.
You may want a bleached blonde sleek bob, but if you're sporting black, coarse curls, you may want to rethink! Your hairdresser will advise you on what's best for your hair and which styles will suit your face shape, as well as recommending colour for you that won't damage the condition of your hair. Listen to your stylist! Your hair is a representation of their work and they want you to look your best!
"But I want what she's got!"
Don't be late for an important salon date!
Being a bit late for an appointment might not seem like a big deal, but it chips away at the amount of time you have with your stylist and you don't want them to be rushed when they're doing your hair!
DO YOUR RESEARCH
I think it's best if you do your homework on a salon before booking an appointment. Are you looking for a salon with a beauty bar? Would you prefer a luxury experience or something that's a bit more no muss, no fuss? What's the ambience like? Do you like the hair that the stylists have? Get researching and you'll find the best salon for you!
