How to Create a Chic Ponytail | ghd Hairstyle Tutorial
Up your hair updo game with this chic ponytail, as seen at Ingrid Vlasov A/W11.
Ponytail hairstyles don’t have to be dull. Turn your everyday hair updo into a detailed double pony with a straight and smooth finish, the perfect look to take you straight from desk to diva. With the ghd styling essentials in your arsenal, creating an easy updo is simple.
Give your hair that added volume with a spritz of ghd root lift and create a smooth hair updo finish with the ghd V gold max styler. Make sure your look stays locked in all day with ghd final fix hairspray.
Whether for work or play, wear your hair up with the ghd guide on creating a detailed pony.
Here’s how to get a detailed ponytail
1. Prepare hair, create parting and clip away
2. Create ponytail
3. Create second ponytail
4. Smooth top ponytail under bottom ponytail
5. Neaten up
6. Straighten and smooth out ponytail lengths with styler
step one: Prepare hair, create parting and clip away
Prep hair with an all-over spritz of ghd root lift to take away some of the ‘slip’ but add some shine and make a tidy middle parting. Create a section on either side of your parting from your crown to your ear and clip each section out of the way. You should have three sections.

step two: Create ponytail
Take the section at the back of the head and smooth into a pony about halfway between your crown and nape. Secure with a no-snag elastic. Section by section, use the ghd V gold max styler to smooth your hair from root to tip.

step three: Create second ponytail
Working on the front sections either side of the middle part, smooth each to the nape of the neck and secure together in another pony with another elastic. You should have two ponies now – one high, one low.

step four: Smooth top ponytail under bottom ponytail
Smooth the high pony over the low pony and secure it in place with another elastic.

step five: Neaten up
Wrap a small piece of hair around the band to disguise it and pin in place with a grip or two. Spritz some ghd final fix hairspray over the 'hair band' to hold it in place.

step six: Straighten and smooth out ponytail lengths with styler
To give your look some final polish, use the ghd gold max styler to straighten and smooth the lengths of your ponytail. Work through the ponytail section by section to ensure a high-shine, kink-free finish.
