Here’s how to create a milkmaid braid 

1: Create a centre parting 

2: Take one section and divide into three 

3: Create a basic three-strand plait 

4: Use the same technique and repeat on the other side  

5: Pull one of the plaits over your head and secure in place 

6: Take the remaining braid and secure it just behind the other 

7: Lock the look in place with hairspray

1: Create a centre parting 
Create a centre parting using the ghd tail comb to separate your hair into two sections.  

2: Take one section and divide into three 
Divide the right side of your hair into three equal subsections.   

3: Create a basic three-strand plait 
Plait in classic style, taking the outer sections over the middle section alternately. Repeat until you reach the ends, then secure the plait with a hair tie.   

4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 on the left side of your hair 
Use the same technique to repeat on the other side.  

5: Pull one of the plaits over your head and secure in place 
You should now have two plaited pigtails. Take the left braid and wrap it over your head as far as it will go towards your hairline, securing it in place with a few hair pins along its length.   

6: Take the remaining braid and secure it just behind the other 
Take the right braid and wrap it over your head, just behind the other braid, using pins to secure as before.   

7: Lock the look in place with hairspray  
Loosen a few tendrils at the front and set the look with a spritz of ghd final fix hairspray.

Here’s how to create a side braid 

1: Create a side parting  

2: Separate hair into three  

3: Braid hair using a classic three-strand technique  

4: Continue to braid all the way to the end 

5: Use a hair tie to keep the plait in place

1: Create a side parting  
Use the ghd tail comb to craft a deep side parting, then sweep all of your hair over one shoulder on the deeper side.   

2: Separate hair into three  
Divide your hair into three equal sections.   

3: Plait hair using a classic three-strand technique  
Take the left section over the middle section, then take the right section over the middle section.  

4: Braid all the way to the end 
Repeat step 3, continuing to braid until you reach the end of your hair.   

5: Use a hair tie to keep the plait in place 
Secure the plait in place with a hair tie and use your fingers to gently loosen the braid.

Here’s how to create a braided ponytail. 

1: Tie your hair in a ponytail  

2: Split your pony in three 

3: Braid using a classic three-strand technique  

4: Use a hair tie to secure the plait  

5: Wrap a small section of hair around the base

1: Tie your hair in a ponytail  
Take all your hair back into a high ponytail and secure in place with a hair tie.   

2: Split your pony in three 
Divide your ponytail into three equal sections, leaving out a small section.   

3: Braid using a classic three-strand technique
Braid using a simple three-strand technique, crossing the outer sections over the middle section alternately.   

4: Use a hair tie to secure the plait 
Continue to braid, following step 3 until you reach the end of your ponytail. Secure the plait in place using a hair tie.   

5: Wrap a small section of hair around the base 
Take the small section you left out of the braid and wrap it around the base of the ponytail as a chic finishing touch to conceal the hair tie. Secure in place with a hair pin.  

Micro braids

Braids don’t have to be attention seeking to achieve all-out beauty. Keep your plait on the lowdown and go subtle with a micro braid, paired with textured waves for the ultimate boho style.

Here’s how to create micro braids 

1: Prep hair with curling spray 

2: Wrap a small section around the barrel of the curling wand and hold 

3: Repeat technique all over hair 

4: Brush out curls  

5: Divide a very small section of hair into three 

6: Braid hair using a traditional three-strand style  

7: Continue to the end of your hair 

8: Secure with a hair tie 

1: Prep hair with curling spray  
Take a 1-2 inch section of hair and spritz with ghd curl hold spray.  

2: Wrap a small section around the barrel of the curling wand and hold 
Place the ghd curve® creative curl wand under the section of hair and wrap it around the barrel. Hold for 5-8 seconds.   

3: Repeat technique all over hair 
Repeat step 2 on all your hair until completely curled.   

4: Brush out curls  
Use your fingers to gently brush the curls out into waves.   

5: Divide a very small section of hair into three 
At the front of your hairline, take a 1-inch section of hair and divide it into three equal sub sections. 

6: Braid hair using a traditional three-strand style  
Cross the right section over the middle section, then cross the left section over the middle section.  

7: Continue to the end of your hair 
Repeat step 6 throughout the length of your locks.   

8: Secure with a hair tie 
Use a hair tie to secure the micro braid in place.

Repeat steps 2-4 on the left ponytail.   

6: Wrap one of the plaits around itself to make a bun  
On the left side, take the end of your plaited ponytail and coil it around itself to create a bun shape. Secure in place with another hair tie.   

7: Repeat the technique on the other side 
Repeat step 6 on the right side.   

8: Spray with hairspray  
Finish with a spritz of ghd final fix hairspray to lock this easy braided hairstyle in place.
