Turn to Millie Mackintosh for festival hairstyle inspiration and take your look to the next level. During Coachella, ghd brand ambassador Zoe Irwin created this effortless wavy hairstyle on Millie’s locks and the result is stunning.
Complete with micro-braids and soft tumbling waves, Millie definitely turned heads with this half-up, relaxed festival hair look. It’s the sort of style that works whether you’re chilling on the campsite, hitting up the food stands or making your way to the front of the crowd ready to dance to your favourite band.
Here, Zoe walks us through how to get this wavy festival hairstyle at home.
Here’s how to create soft waves with micro braids
1. Blow dry hair
2. Moisturise hair with smooth serum
3. Create curls with styler
4. Twist sides back
5. Create micro braids around hairline
step one: Blow dry your hair
Blow out the hair using the ghd air® hairdryer, tousling the hair as you go to create body.
step two: Create curls with styler
Next, work the ghd platinum+ styler through the hair to create a natural and effortless-looking drop down curl.
TIP: Follow our how-to guide to create effortless beachy waves that you can add to this style.
step three: Twist sides back
Take two small sections of hair from just above your ear at the front of your head. Lightly twist the hair, gradually pulling it to the back of your head. Clip the first twist in place, then repeat on the other side.
step four: Create micro braids around the hairline
Lastly, create small micro-braids near the front of the face to complete the look. You can follow our easy braid tutorial to help, instead using a micro section of hair. To secure, don’t use elastics -instead simply clamp the ghd platinum+ styler at the end of the hair to keep the braids in place and to create a more natural, effortless vibe. Finish off with a spritz of ghd final fix hairspray to keep everything in place.
Tip: Add glitter or a hair rings to create a truly show stopping finish for your festival hair.
Don’t just save this wavy festival hairstyle for the big music event though-it’s also perfect for a lazy summer day and or an effortless style with great definition. Check out our festival hairstyles hub for more inspiration.
