Tresses & Dresses: Kate Hudson How-to
who Kate Hudson
Hair by: David Babaii for ghd, North America
INSPIRATION: China: Through the Looking Glass – “Tonight Kate was a golden goddess. We wanted a softer almost ethereal look that would compliment her gorgeous Michael Kors dress.”
Tips/techniques “To start, I dried Kate’s hair with the ghd air™ hairdryer, brushing and drying the hair towards the back of her head.
Once the hair is completely dried, I sectioned the hair into three sections: one in the back and one on each side. I then used the ghd curve™ classic wave wand on the bottom sections of the hair to create a bit of texture. The large oval shaped barrel allows you to create a subtle bend in the hair.
Next I pulled the hair into a high ponytail at the top of her head and secured it with a rubber band. Then I twisted the hair and wrapped it around the base of the ponytail creating a loose bun. You can either keep the bun neatly in place or pull out small sections of hair to create a more undone look, similar to what I did with Kate.
Once the bun is secure I used the ghd Eclipse™ to smooth out the loose sections of hair that framed Kate’s face. To top off the look, we added a gorgeous Lorraine Schwartz headpiece which was covered in delicate white and yellow diamonds.”
