3. Create centre parting
4. Brush hair into two pigtails
5. Take elastics for wefts, place midpoint at base of tail
6. Tie elastic in criss-cross technique down the pigtail
7. Glide styler through hair extensions
8. Wind weft up pigtail, securing as you go up
9. Secure weft at top of pigtail
10. Wrap piece of hair around pony
11. Coat with hairspray
12. Rub styler plates on hairspray
13. Repeat steps 5-12 on other side
14. Spray shine spray on fingers or brush
15. Smooth flyaways
step three: Create centre parting
Create a sharp and defined parting down the centre of the head with a ghd tail comb.
step four: Brush hair into two pigtails
One side at a time, brush the hair up to tight pigtails above the ears at the ‘round of the head’ with a ghd oval dressing brush, then secure in place with elastic ties.
step five: Take long elastics and place midpoint at base of tail
To bind both tails with elastic to prepare for the wefts, place the halfway point of the elastic at the base of the pigtail.
step six: Tie elastic in criss-cross technique down pigtail
Work down the tail of hair in a criss-cross motion and tie the elastic at the end.
step seven: Glide styler through hair extensions
Using quality hair extensions that match the colour of your hair, run the ghd gold® styler from the top through to the ends for a precise and super smooth and sleek finish.
step eight: Wind weft up pigtail, securing as you go up
Begin to wind the wefts up the bound hair from the end of the tail and secure every 4th wind with a ‘mini grip’.
step nine: Secure weft at top of pigtail
Secure the weft at the top of the pony with a final grip, ensuring it is hidden.
step ten: Wrap piece of hair around pony
Take a piece of hair from the weft underneath the pony and begin to wrap around the base of the tail, making the pony sit proud from the head
step eleven: Coat with final fix hairspray
Rather than using a pin or clip, spray the wrapped hair with hairspray to secure in place.
step twelve: Rub styler plates on hairspray
Rub the ghd gold® styler plates over the hairspray for a secure and high gloss vinyl finish.
step thirteen: Repeat steps 5-12 on other side
Repeat the technique seen from steps five to twelve on the opposite side.
step fourteen: Spray shine spray on fingers or brush
Apply shinespray to fingers or a smooth brush.
step fifteen: Smooth flyaways
Sweep your fingers or the brush over the hair to smooth flyaways and achieve the perfect sleek finish.
