Here’s how to create a halo braid for your next wedding
1. Create a centre parting from the hairline to the nape of the neck
2. Separate the sections and bring them over your shoulders
3. At the hairline on the right-hand side, take three equal sections and create a Dutch braid
4. Braid to the ends of the hair and secure with an elastic
5. Pull and pinch the braid
6. Move on to the opposite side and repeat steps three to five
7. Clip in a fishtail braid extension at the back of your head in the centre
8. Wrap the fishtail around the head
9. Place hair pins in the centre of the braid to secure
10. Cross over the remaining braids and pin underneath the fishtail braid
11. Mist your halo braid with hairspray

Step one: Create a centre parting from the hairline to the nape of the neck
Use your fingers to create a centre parting. Trace your fingers from the crown to the back of the neck, creating two equal sections.
Tip: Use the ghd tail comb to create a centre parting like a pro

Step two: Separate the sections and bring them over your shoulders
Separate the two sections and bring them over your shoulders.

Step three: At the hairline on the right-hand side, take three equal sections and create a Dutch braid
Starting at the hairline on the right-hand side, take three equal one-inch sections and create a Dutch braid. Start passing the side sections under the middle, adding hair from each side before you pass. Passing the hair under rather than over makes the braid stand off the head and gives your style extra volume.

Step four: Braid to the ends of the hair and secure with an elastic
Continue braiding all the way down to the ends of the hair and secure with an elastic.

Step five: Pull and pinch the braid
To loosen the braid, pull and pinch it with your fingers from the bottom all the way up.

Step six: Move onto the opposite side and repeat steps three to five
On the left-hand section, repeat steps three to five.

Step seven: Clip in a fishtail braid extension at the back of your head in the centre
Clip in a fishtail braid extension at the back of your head in the centre using hair pins.

step eight: Wrap the fishtail around the head
Pick up the fishtail and wrap it around the head clockwise to create a halo braid effect.

Step nine: Place hair pins in the centre of the braid to secure
Slide hair pins into the centre of the braid, along the length of the fishtail plait, to secure it in place.

Step ten: Cross over the remaining braids and pin underneath the fishtail braid
Cross over the Dutch braids and pin the ends into the base of your fishtail plait neatly.

step eleven: Mist your halo braid with hairspray
Spritz ghd final fix hairspray onto your halo braid to secure the look.
Tip: Leave wispy tendrils out at the front to create a face-framing finish.
Wedding guest hair has never been easier with this halo braid hack from ghd. Sweep up those locks into this ethereal updo for a romantic look that’ll look perfect from the vows to the final dance.
