Festival beauty essentials | ghd Hairstyle Advice
Look into Mille's beauty bag from Coachella 2016 for tips and tricks on how to stay on trend for this season's festival looks.
Millie Mackintosh: “For festivals I never wear a full face of makeup, I keep my look fresh. I wouldn’t do a smoky eye because of the heat it will crease. I always use a waterproof mascara and then super hydrating skincare products.
I also love things like glitter for festivals, when you’re feeling tired or jet-lagged, glitter can add sparkle to eyes and really opens them up; at festivals you can have fun and be more experimental. I also love stick on gems, temporary tattoos and I want to try glitter brows next!”
Millie Mackintosh reveals her Coachella festival beauty essentials:
I use this to refresh hair; you can choose whether to straighten or curl with the ghd styler when you can get to a plug. I also use the ghd curl hold spray at festivals - I work it into my hair before it is styled each day to prevent frizz from humidity, also you don’t want your hair to look too freshly clean at a festival and it’s easier to style when it has texture from the curl hold spray or after a few days since washing it.
Lipstick: Tom Ford, first time
For festivals I never wear a full face of makeup, I keep my look fresh. This lipstick gives a natural finish and keeps lips hydrated throughout the day.
Eye glitter: Urban Decay, silver glitter eye liner
I use this to create glitter tears. It brightens up eyes and hides dark circles, a winning combo! I was inspired to try glitter tears from a catwalk look created by Wendy Rowe. You just sprinkle the glitter into serum and tap on in an imperfect drop shape under the eye. I want to try glitter brows next!
Lip balm: Dr. PawPaw
Lips can get quite dry at festivals so I reapply this throughout the day.
Laura Mercier: Foundation Primer, radiant bronze
I mix this illuminating primer with tinted moisturiser, its gives nice coverage but doesn’t look like makeup, it just looks like healthy skin.
Eyeko Hydrogel Eye Patch:
This eye mask is great for tired puffy eyes. At festivals I like to sleep with a hydrating mask on overnight, to rescue skin from dehydration so I don’t wake up feeling parched and so that that my skin will be plump even after a heavy night. Then in the mornings I use an eye mask to revive my tired eyes.
La Roche Posay: Anthelios XL SPF50+ Fluide Extreme
This SPF provides lightweight sun protection so I have it on me all day to keep my skin protected while out in the sun.
Dr Frances Prenna Jones: Refresh 24/7
This refreshes my skin whenever I need it so I keep it on me for instant hydration. Once I have super hydrating skincare products I often then only need a waterproof mascara for my makeup.
Elle MacPherson The Super Elixir Travel Sachet:
These super powder sachets are perfect for travel, I mix one with a drink in the morning for a healthy vitamin boost.
These were braided into my hair by Zoe Irwin, ghd ambassador, for day 2 at Coachella. This was my favourite hair look of the weekend and everyone stopped to admire it. At festivals you can have fun and be more experimental.
