soft top knot
Top knots are the ultimate easy updos for work - they keep your hair up and off your shoulders but also add the finishing touches on your office-casual look. Don't let your hair get in the way of taking over the world with a Soft Top Knot that’s guaranteed to last from 8am to 5pm.
The trick to this hair bun tutorial is loose texture. Bring that base lift through your mid-lengths by prepping your locks with a root lift spray. Flip your head upside down to dry the product in with the ghd air® hair dryer and ghd paddle brush. Once you’ve got your hair up, pinch and separate any twisted tresses to add volume and texture.

Here's how to do a soft top knot
2. Turn head upside down and dry with hairdryer
3. Use fingers as brush and create high ponytail
4. Massage hair away from elastic
5. Separate section from pony
6. Twist section back on itself and secure
7. Pinch and separate twist
8. Take left out section and wrap around base
9. Loosen front and sides
step one: Spray hair with root lift product
For base texture, prep the hair with root lift spray.
step three: Use fingers as brush and create high ponytail
Using your fingers instead of a brush to keep a loose texture, pull your hair into a high pony above the crown, securing with an elastic.
step four: Massage hair away from elastic
Loosen the top of your hair by massaging the hair away from the hair elastic and pulling gently away with hands.
step five: Separate section from pony
Separate a section from the ponytail and leave this section out of the next step.
step six: Twist section back on itself and secure
With the remaining large section of the pony, twist and allow it to roll back on itself, then secure with grip.
step seven: Pinch and separate twist
Pinch and separate the hair twist for added volume.
step eight: Take left out section and wrap around base
Taking the section previously left out, wrap it around the base and grip in place.
step nine: Loosen front and sides
If you want a softer look, loosen the sections around front and sides gently with fingers.
