Festival hairstyles: Fishtail braid band
Lock this look in and make it your summer festival hair go-to. Channel your inner boho-goddess and style the look with some natural flowers to really bring the look to life. Pair the braid with flowing waves and imperfect curls to complement your carefree vibe.
HERE'S HOW TO GET A FISHTAIL BRAID BAND:
1. Create a centre parting and take a large front section
2. Split into four sections
3. Start braiding your fishtail plait
4. Continue to the ends
5. Stretch the plait
6. Pin the fishtail plait at the back of your head
step one: Create a centre parting and take a large front section
Create a centre parting in your hair. Then, from your forehead, move 3-4 inches in and take this section of hair – this will form your fishtail braid.
step two: Split into four sections
Split your sectioned hair into four smaller sections. Hold your two left sections in one hand and your two right sections in the other.
step three: Start braiding your fishtail plait
Begin to braid by taking the outer section on the left side. Move it over the other left strand, and take it into the right side. Complete the same on the right sections. You should end up with two sections in each side.
step four: Continue to the ends
Repeat the instructions in step three to the ends of your hair. When you come to the end, hold the braid in place with a hair tie.
step five: Stretch the plait
To create a dishevelled look, take the plait and begin to stretch out to loosen each section of the braid – it’s totally up to you how loose to go.
step six: Pin the fishtail plait at the back of your head
Once you’ve created your boho fishtail, take it to the back of your head and pin it in place. Try to conceal the pins within your hair for a streamlined look.
