How-to hairstyles: casual pony

Follow this simple step-by-step guide to create this casual up do, taken from our live shoot with ELLE and featuring the new ghd platinum® styler.

Achieve maximum style for minimum effort when creating your hair updo with the causal pony. A quick fix for when you’re short of time, don’t hold back when it comes to your ponytail hairstyles. Choose texture, lift and flair to give this timeless look a futuristic edge. The causal pony is your ticket to getting that catwalk-inspired look that you can create yourself.

Salon-style quality is guaranteed with ghd, allowing your cute and easy updo to be the centre of attention. Create a voluminous base with the ghd platinum® styler, giving your hair the perfect boost to be ushered into an updo. To keep your ponytail hairstyles looking buoyant all day, spritz with ghd final fix spray for a firm hold.

Create a casual pony suited for all occasions, by following this easy how-to.

Here’s how to create a casual ponytail

1. Use styler in hair and twist clockwise and anti-clockwise to roots

2. Spray hair with fix spray and secure

3. Loosen sections to add texture

step one: Twist styler clockwise and anti-clockwise to roots

Taking small sections of the hair, work the ghd platinum® styler from the roots, rocking it clockwise and anti-clockwise.

step two: Spray hair with fix spray and secure

Gently tease the hair in sections, misting lightly with ghd final fix spray as you go. Secure with a bungee or hair band, slightly off centre.

Tip: Tilt the head back while you secure the ponytail - it keeps hair from bagging underneath.

step three: Loosen sections to add texture

Lightly loosen the hair in sections to bring texture to the final look. Mist with ghd final fix spray to finish.
