Top up tool only!

Great idea, but reality doesn’t live up to expectations. I have a lob and naturally curly hair and a full charge only does two thirds of my hair and because you can’t use it whilst it’s plugged in it’s can only be viewed as a top up tool and for that reason I feel this is too expensive. Hopefully gen 2 will have better battery life. If you’re looking something to pop in your handbag for recovery after being caught in a downpour or on the high humidity days, then it’s great, but you’ll need it’s big brother for daily full straitening

Straighteners - But Not As We Know It

I found that the packaging did give a premium feel to the product before opening the box, and definitely looks inviting. I think the white really stands out on the shelf. You also get a quite nice leather (maybe?) carry case for them. When they're in that it's about the same size as a quite long umbrella. The straighteners definitely feel quite chunky to hold and heavy, probably due to the batteries in them. I'm not completely sold on the White option as a long term colour choice, mainly because I feel like they're always going to end up dirty, but it's not like it's the only option and up to now they still look really good. I do think the white looks really modern and futuristic, which is further helped by the curved shape of them. I think the plastic casing doesn't feel quite as premium as the packaging would suggest. I know there may be certain design requirements that limit the types of plastic you could use due to heat etc, but I just couldn't escape the thought that holding them didn't quite live up to looking at them. I would have preferred some kind of softer touch rubber type of material where you hold it. This would aid in gripping it (especially if you're in a busy toilet at the mirror!) I'm also unsure on the silver plastic bits at the bottom of the product, where the charging port is. I would imagine one of the many selling points of these are the fact you can take them out and use them on a night out, or at work etc and so I just wonder whether this bit ends up looking really scratched and lets the rest of it down if you're not careful to always put it back in its carry case immediately. Having said that I do think the proportions of it are quite nice, and the weighting of the product feels nice in the hand when you're using it. I wouldn't want the product to be any longer than it currently is - it's probably not an issue if you had these in a bigger bag at work but I own quite a few bags that this wouldn't fit in if I was going out. And I would have thought it's those types of environments where you're more likely to need to restraighten your hair. It's not a massive issue, but it might just limit the bags you could use if you wanted to take these out with you. I could tell a difference in how these performed compared to my regular corded straighteners. The plates aren't as wide or as long, and I don't think they get quite as hot, so it takes a bit longer to straighten all my hair. But you can't have everything. I wouldn't want the product to be any longer, so longer/wider plates means less space for batteries and the weighting may not feel as nice as it does. But I think if you use this product as a bit like a "top up" product then it can work well. If you're out and about then you probably don't need to do your full head, and I found in those situations they make a lot more sense. One thing that shouldn't be understated is really obvious - the fact you actually can use these when you're in a nightclub, or when you're at your desk at work, or even on a bus! You can be pretty much anywhere and if you're with a friend who can hold a phone up as a mirror then you can use these to do a few bits. This isn't something that I've really been able to do before, and there have been times where having these in my bag has been a god send. I think once you remember this you can be more forgiving of the fact that they're not quite as hot or quick as a corded set. On a full charge I got probably around 15 minutes worth of running time usually. This is more than enough for a few days worth of just quickly re-straightening certain bits. You probably would have to charge them daily if they were your only pair, but charge time is probably about 2 hours and so it's not a big deal if they were. Overall I think these are a really interesting product. Would you necessarily want to have these as your only pair of straighteners in the world? Not really - it's not that you couldn't, because you could. It's just they're not quite as good or quick as a corded pair of straighteners day to day. But I'm not taking my corded straighteners on a night out with me, and I'd get weird looks if I plugged them in at my desk. I think you use this product differently and they make complete sense when you use them like that.

Fantastic Little Compact Cordless Straighteners!!!

Brilliant, compact portable straightener! Everything good that you would expect from GHD!!! The only fault I have is the charge doesn't last that long

Disappointed

I was so excited to buy these due to them being cordless! They arrived the next day and looked absolutely amazing! They are a good idea but the charge only lasts 20 mins and you cannot use them plugged in so you have to wait another 2 hours for them to charge again! Also, compared to my previous ghd’s they definitely do not straighten as well! Great idea and look great but doesn’t do the job sadly!

Best product ever created!!

This is the most convenient product ever created by GHD! A smaller tool but so convenient to take for travel. For someone who is always running late, I now have the perfect tool to do my hair whilst in a car. I mean, could it get any better? I have extremely long, frizzy and bushy hair and this straighter leaves a beautiful, silky, soft finish. Ghd never disappoints!!!
