How-to Hairstyles:
The New Wave

Follow these simple step-by-steps to achieve a fancy, flirty new wave wavy hairstyle.

Make wavy hair your go-to look with the new wave. Chic and sultry, these free-following locks will be the envy of all wavy hairstyles, thanks to their undone finish. Achieving glamour needn’t be a struggle – style your hair with ghd and you’ll have cultivated curls straight off the catwalk.

Our range of ghd curve® wands and tongs has been designed to give you a good hair day - whatever your hair type. Innovative technology developed by our team of ghd scientists will leave you with healthier-looking wavy hair that stay locked in. All day and all night.

Don’t go straight all the time. Challenge your style guide and choose a wavy hairstyle that’s minimum effort for maximum style.

Here’s how to create new wave curls

1. Create parting and prep hair

2. Wrap section of hair around curl wand

3. Hold, allow to cool and repeat

4. Unclip back section, repeat steps 2 and 3

5. Loosen curls with comb and finish with hairspray

step one: Create parting and prep hair

Select your desired parting and section hair from crown to ears, clipping away back section. Take a diagonal section 4cm above the ear and spritz with ghd style curl hold spray.

step two: Wrap section of hair around curl wand

Keeping the hair flat, place the ghd curve® creative curl wand under the section of hair and wrap hair from the base of the barrel towards the cool tip, creating volume at the root.

step three: Hold, allow to cool and repeat

Hold for 5-8 seconds then unwrap the section and leave to cool. Continue this technique, working upward towards the parting on both sides.

step four: Unclip back section, repeat steps 2 and 3

Unclip the back section. Then, taking diagonal sections towards the centre nape on either side of the head, use the same technique seen in steps two and three to complete.

step five: Loosen curls with comb and finish with hairspray

Shake out the curls using your fingertips then use the ghd detangling comb to dress out the look finishing with a fine mist of ghd style final fix hairspray.
