- Terms & Conditions
- These are the Terms and Conditions which apply to ghd’s Trade In Promotion (the “Promotion”). By participating in the Promotion, you will have the option to get a partial refund of your purchase price of a new full price ghd Chronos OR ghd Chronos Max hair straightener (“new straightener”) from ghdhair.com/au/ (AU) or ghdhair.com/nz/ (NZ) (as appropriate, our “Website”) when you trade in your old straightener (the “old straightener”). The Promotion applies in respect of purchases of ghd Chronos and ghd Chronos Max. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully to find out further details about how the Promotion works.
- This promotion is run by ghd. “ghd” is the trading name of Jemella Australia Pty Limited of Level 24, 167 Eagle Street, Brisbane QLD 4000 Australia. If you wish to contact us about the Promotion, you can contact our Customer Care team through https://aunz.help.ghdhair.com/hc/en-au
- The Promotion is a short-term promotion which will be available from 6pm (AEST)1st of September 2025 until 5.30pm (AEST) 23rd of September 2025 (or such earlier date as required depending on stock availability) inclusive (the “Promotion Period”). The Promotion is open to residents of Australia and New Zealand only, and you must be over the age of 18 to participate.
- Devices which are electrical hair straighteners manufactured by any brand may be traded in as part of the Promotion. The Promotion only applies when you buy a ghd Chronos or ghd Chronos Max straightener and is subject to availability.
- The offer is limited to two (2) purchases of new straighteners per customer, after which any additional purchases under the Promotion may be rejected at ghd’s sole discretion. We may also refuse to accept or cancel any orders placed under the Promotion where we have reasonable grounds to suspect fraudulent activity.
- Only new straighteners purchased at full price are eligible for the Promotion. The Promotion cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion (including sale).
- ghd reserves the right to terminate, decline, amend or suspend the Promotion at any time.
- The Promotion – How it works
- To participate in the Promotion, you should add a full price ghd Chronos OR ghd Chronos Max hair straightener to your basket. Enter code “TRADEIN” at checkout to notify us that you want to trade in your old straightener as part of the Promotion. When you complete your purchase, please be aware that the new straightener will be purchased at full price. You can purchase your new straightener using any of the payment methods available on our Website (including Afterpay).
- For all Australian and New Zealand orders, there will be a QR code on the return information card included in the delivery of your new straightener, which you will need to scan to create a return label. You will also receive a pre-paid shipping bag with your new straightener.
- You must safely package up your old straightener (using the pre-paid shipping bag) and send it to us within fourteen (14) days of receiving your new straightener. You should complete your return information card and include it in the package. Please obtain and retain proof of postage, in case your parcel gets lost in transit.
- For all Australian and New Zealand orders, there will be a QR code on the return information card included in the delivery of your new straightener, which you will need to scan to create a return label. You will also receive a pre-paid shipping bag with your new straightener.
- Once we have received your old straightener back from you, we will check that it is eligible for participation in the Promotion and that the relevant criteria have been met (set out in clause 3 below, the “Eligibility Criteria”). Once this has been verified, we will issue a partial refund via your original payment method for the new straightener within fourteen (14) days of our verification.
- Subject to meeting the Eligibility Criteria, the partial refund will be in the following amount: AUD$150 if you are an Australian resident and NZD$150 if you are a New Zealand resident.
If you purchased your new straightener using Afterpay, your partial refund will be issued via Afterpay and handled by them directly.
- Subject to meeting the Eligibility Criteria, the partial refund will be in the following amount: AUD$150 if you are an Australian resident and NZD$150 if you are a New Zealand resident.
- Once your partial refund has been issued, please allow 3-7 business days for the funds to reach your account, although note this may differ from bank to bank and if you originally paid via Afterpay.
- The Promotion code can only be used once per order, meaning the maximum price reduction is set out in clause 2.5 above.
- ghd’s Standard Terms and Conditions of Sale (which can be found here for Australia and here for New Zealand), will apply to the purchase of your new straightener, save as varied by these Promotion Terms and Conditions. These Promotion Terms and Conditions do not apply to normal purchases made from our Website.
- Your old straightener
- Once we have received your old straightener , you acknowledge and agree that it becomes ghd’s property and we will not return it to you. This applies whether or not your old straightener meets the Eligibility Criteria below, and even if you change your mind about participating in the Promotion.
- To participate in the Promotion and receive your partial refund, you must send us your old straightener within fourteen (14) days of receiving your new straightener. The following Eligibility Criteria will apply in order to qualify for the partial refund on your new straightener under the Promotion:
- Your old straightener must be a genuine ghd straightener (any model) or other branded straightener. If we suspect for any reason that the old straightener is a counterfeit product, we reserve the right to reject it and involve enforcement agencies if we deem it necessary to do so.
- Other types of products, such as hair dryers, styling products and accessories, are not eligible for the Promotion (whether they are ghd-branded or not).
- Your old straightener does not need to be in working order, but it must be in one piece with cord and plug still attached.
- You must personally own the old straightener that you send to us, and by sending us an old straightener you personally warrant and represent that you own the old straightener.
- If you fail to send us your old straightener within fourteen (14) days of receiving the new straightener, or if upon inspection your old straightener is not an eligible product or does not meet the above criteria, you will not be able to participate in the Promotion and we reserve the right not to issue, or to cancel, the partial refund against the purchase of your new straightener. If in these circumstances you wish to return the new straightener to us, you may do so in accordance with our standard returns policy.
- When you return your old straightener to us, we work with a trusted waste disposal partner to ensure it is disposed of responsibly.
- Your rights
- If you change your mind about the purchase of your new straightener via our Website, you are entitled to cancel your order and return it in accordance with our Returns Policy, which can be found on our Website. Any refund you receive will be the purchase price less any partial refund already issued to you under the Promotion.
- Participating in the Promotion does not affect your statutory rights with respect to your new straightener, including but not limited to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law as contained in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) for customers in Australia, or the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, for customers in New Zealand.
- Data Privacy
- We will use the personal information you provide to us in accordance with our Privacy Notice, which you can find here for Australia and here for New Zealand. You agree that you have read and understood the Privacy Notice, and you agree to your personal information being handled in accordance with our Privacy Notice.
- Other Important Terms
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms and conditions to another organisation. You may only transfer your rights or your obligations under these terms and conditions to another person if we agree in writing.
- This contract is between you and ghd. No other person shall have any rights to enforce any of its terms.
- Each of the paragraphs of these terms and conditions operates separately. If any court or relevant authority decides that any of them are unlawful, they will be severed and the remaining terms will remain in full force and effect.
- If we fail to insist that you perform any of your obligations under these terms and conditions, if we do not enforce our rights against you or if we delay in doing so, that will not mean that you do not have to do those things, and it will not prevent us taking steps against you at a later date. For example, if you do not pay and we do not request payment but deliver the new straighteners to you, we can still require you to make a payment at a later date.
- For customers based in Australia, these terms and conditions are governed by Australian law and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Australia. For customers based in New Zealand, these terms and conditions are governed by New Zealand law and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in New Zealand.
